INTRODUCTION
Clarafiy ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and services (collectively, the "Service").
By using Clarafiy, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account Information: Name, email address, password (encrypted)
- Profile Information: Optional profile photo, preferences
- Vehicle Information: VIN, year, make, model, color, mileage, nickname, license plate
- Service Records: Service date, type, shop name, cost, mileage, notes
- Shop Recommendations: Shop name, address, reason for recommendation, rating
- Chat Messages: Questions and messages sent to Raffy AI assistant
- Payment Information: If you purchase premium features (processed by Stripe - we do not store credit card numbers)
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device model, operating system, unique device identifiers
- Usage Data: Features used, pages viewed, time spent, interactions
- Location Data: When you enable location services for Shop Finder (only while using the feature)
- Log Data: IP address, access times, browser type, crashes, errors
1.3 Information from Third Parties
- NHTSA Data: Vehicle specifications, recalls, consumer complaints (public data)
- Google Places: Shop information (name, address, ratings, photos)
- DeepSeek AI: AI responses to your diagnostic questions (we send your questions, they provide answers)
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use your information to:

- Create and manage your account
- Look up vehicle information via VIN
- Store and display your service records
- Generate health scores and market value estimates
- Find nearby shops based on your location
- Provide AI diagnostic explanations
- Award points, badges, and calculate leaderboard rankings

4. YOUR PRIVACY CHOICES
4.1 Account Information
- Access: View your data in Account > Profile
- Update: Edit your profile information anytime
- Delete: Request account deletion via Settings or email privacy@clarafiy.com
4.2 Location Data
- Enable/Disable: Control in phone Settings or in-app when prompted
- Type: We only request "While Using App" access (not "Always")
- Deletion: Location data is not stored - only used in real-time for shop search
4.3 Usage Analytics
- Opt Out: Settings > Privacy > Share Usage Data (toggle off)
- Effect: We will not collect anonymized usage statistics from your account
4.4 Marketing Communications
- Opt Out: Click "Unsubscribe" in emails or toggle off in Settings > Notifications
4.5 AI Chat History
- View: All chat messages saved locally on your device
- Delete: Clear chat history in AI screen (cannot be recovered)
5. DATA RETENTION
- Account Data: Retained until you delete your account
- Service Records: Retained until you delete individual records or your account
- Chat History: Stored locally on device - delete anytime
- Analytics: Anonymized data retained indefinitely
- Deleted Accounts: Data permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion request

- Purpose: VIN decoding, recalls, complaints
- Data Shared: VIN only (publicly available information)

- Note: We do NOT share your name, email, or VIN with DeepSeek
8.4 Stripe (if premium features added)
- Purpose: Payment processing
- Data Shared: Payment information (handled directly by Stripe - we never see card numbers)

9. CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights:

12. INSURANCE DATA HANDLING
12.1 What We Collect (Insurance)
We collect the following insurance-related information that you provide:
- Insurance card images you scan using the camera
- Policy details: carrier name, policy number, effective and expiration dates, insured name, agent contact information
- PDF declarations pages you upload
- Vehicle-to-policy associations
12.2 How We Use Insurance Data
- Display in your personal insurance wallet within the app
- Send renewal reminder emails to your account email address
- We NEVER share your insurance data with insurance carriers
- We NEVER use your insurance data for advertising
- We NEVER sell your insurance data to third parties
12.3 Third Parties Involved in Insurance Data Processing
- Google Vision API: We send insurance card images to Google Cloud's Vision API to extract text via OCR. Under Google's commercial Cloud Vision API terms, your images are not used to train Google's AI models. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's own privacy and data processing terms.
- DeepSeek AI: We send the OCR-extracted text from your insurance cards and declarations pages to DeepSeek's API to structure it into policy fields. DeepSeek's handling of this data, including any retention, is governed by DeepSeek's own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review.
- Resend: delivers transactional renewal alert emails to your account email address. Resend's data handling is governed by Resend's own privacy policy.
12.4 Your Rights Regarding Insurance Data
- Export: You may request an export of your insurance data at any time by contacting privacy@clarafiy.com.
- Delete policies: Delete individual policies or documents at any time within the app.
- Delete account: Deleting your account permanently removes ALL your insurance data, including policies, uploaded documents, and renewal alert history, within 30 days.
